तो ये है महिला सशक्तीकरण ??????
बडा शोर सुनते थे पहलू में दिल का
जो चीरा तो कतरा-ए-खूं भी न निकला.
ज़ब प्रतिभा पाटिल को महामहिम राष्ट्रपति पद हेतु प्रत्याशी बनाया गया था, तो कांग्रेस पार्टी ने मीडिया के सभी चौराहों पर खूब ढोल पीटे थे कि ये है महिला सशक्तीकरण की दिशा में पहला कदम.जिसने भी प्रतिभा पाटिल का विरोध किया उस पर "महिला विरोधी" होने का लेबल चस्पां कर दिया गया.
चहेते सम्पादकों से अनेक सम्पादकीय लिखवाये गये , मीडियाकर्मियों को शुभेक्षाओं से नवाज़ा गया जिसने प्रतिभा पाटिल के समर्थन में कसीदे पढे.कई तो ऐसे कसीदे लिख पढ कर पद्मश्री,पद्मभूषण आदि की तैय्यारी में अभी से बैठे हैं.तो कुछ राज्यसभा की आस लगाये है.
अभी कल की ही बात है जब श्रीमती प्रतिभा पाटिल ने महामहिम राष्ट्रपति पद की शपथ लेते समय महिला सशक्तीकरण को ही अपने सम्भाषण का मुख्य मुद्दा बनाया था , लगने लगा था कि बस अब हो गया भरतीय नारी का कल्याण और मिल गयी उसे सदियों की दासता से मुक्ति एक ही झटके में. चढने ही वाली है भारतीय् नारी उत्तंग शिखर पर.
अगले ही दिन दिखा सत्ता का असली रंग.सत्ता का चरित्र क्या होता है ,पता लग गया. मुलम्मा उतर गया.
नारे और वादे क्या होते है और क्या होती है उनकी उपयोगिता, सामने आ गया.
दिल्ली राज्य के पुलिस कमिश्नर की नियुक्ति में जब 1972 बैच की IPS officer Dr. Kiran Bedi वरिष्ठता क्रम मं सबसे आगे दिखीं तो सत्ता को पसीने आ गये.शुरु हो गया क्रम उन बहानों को ढूंढने का जिनके चलते किरन बेदी को किनारे लगाया जा सके.
पहले दिल्ली के कुछ वकीलों से एक बयान दिलवाया गया कि यदि किरन बेदी को यह पद दिया गया तो वे विरोध करेंगे क्यों कि लगभग 20 वर्ष पहले किरन बेदी के नेट्रत्व में किसी जुलूस पर पुलिस ने लाठी चार्ज किया था. फिर बहाना बनाया गया कि Dr. Kiran Bedi हाल फिल्हाल के वर्षों में active police-role में नही रही हैं. यानि कि हर तरह से योग्यता के प्रश्न को भुलाने का बहाना.
सता योग्यता नही देखती, सत्ता seniority नही देखती. सत्ता देखती है ठ्कुर सुहाती. You should be politically correct to find favour with powers that be.यदि आपका अपना कोई वज़ूद है,यदि आप के पास स्वतंत्र विचार है,यदि आप में बिना किसी नेता की चप्पू बने अपना नाम स्वयम स्थापित करने की योग्यता है, तो निश्चित ही आप सत्ता के गलियारों के चहेते/ चहेती नही बन सकते. यह चरित्र है सत्ता का.
किरन बेदी का उदाहरण यह सभी सिद्ध करता है.
अब यह जग जाहिर है कि महिला सशक्तीकरण मात्र एक नारा है, नितांत खोखला नारा,जिसे जब चाहे अपनी सुविधानुसार इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है.
प्रश्न यह है कि कब तक निरीह जनता भुलावे भरे नारों ,छलावे भरे सपनों को देख कर गुमराह होती रहेगी ?

Kiran Bedi releases "Momentum"
‘MOMENTUM’, the inaugural edition of the news magazine of Amritsar Prison was released by Dr. Kiran Bedi, DG, BPR&D at Central Prison Amritsar on the 9th November, 2006. At this occasion, Dr. Bedi, the first lady IPS officer of the country, appreciated the efforts of Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh and other authorities of Amritsar Prison to start this magazine in such an impressive form and design.
Magsaysay Award winner Dr. Bedi came here to deliver valedictory address of a two days training programme “Seeing is Learning" (SIL) organized by the BPR&D(Bureau of Police Research and Development), Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi at Central Prison, Amritsar for Prisons officers of North India on the 8th and 9th November, 2006

Ms Kiran Bedi (IPS officer and currently Director- General, Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs) gave a which clearly rocked. She said soft skills, so important in administration, do not have to be taught to women, but men need special training to acquire them. When women assume higher positions of power, they often exchange soft skills for hard skills, losing their innate qualities. Ms Bedi urged women not to lose these wonderful quality while learning new skills. According to the articlulate Ms Bedi, men have three qualities- muscle, money and mobility. Women have yet another three- heart, humaneness and humility. The two sets are complementary.

It's always possible
I was in 9th grade, sitting in a very small restaurant on M.G. Road in Pune with my friend Aishu. This restaurant had long benches to sit on, so everyone coming in would sit on the same bench in a line. A guy came towards us and he asked for an autograph on a 100 Rs. note from a lady sitting right next to me. I looked at her. She was short, with short hair wearing a long kurta jacket and pant. I heard Aishu screaming ‘Kiran Bedi SSSSSS’ and then I asked the stupidest question of my life “is that Pooja Bedi’s mother?” (afterall Pooja Bedi was hot and happening those days, she had made a record by wearing shortest skirts in the history of Indian cinema!). Now I thank Aishu for still acknowledging me as a friend. Aish was completely shocked with my response and replied “NO she is the first female in India to be in police”. (In my case IGNORANCE is always possible :))
Kiran Bedi – Not just the first female to be in police but also first female to reach the highest position in police in India. If the concept of rebirth is true I would like to be someone like her. She ruled the field which was dominated by men over the years. I admire her so much not because she ruled a man’s world but because she had the courage to do it.
“If people who have committed crimes are tortured more in prisons then it is in fact going to turn them more bitter and after releasing from prisons they can do more crimes. The concept of a prison itself is people who have done crimes should live alone and think about their actions.” – Kiran Bedi
She transformed India’s and for that matter Asia’s largest and most infamous jail called Tihar jail. (Largest in terms of human population)
It’s always possible – Kiran BediIn this book she has described in detail the corruption, bad condition of food and medical services provided, problems faced by foreigner prisoners, concerns of the endangered species in the prison – women and adolescent prisoners before she was posted to Tihar jail. She changed Tihar into a place where the prisoners were taught meditation, yoga, reading, writing, various language related courses and skills like candle making etc. Her journey of transforming the most notorious jails into an Ashram was definitely difficult but as she says ‘It’s always possible’!
Read this book to know how a person can really change impossible to I m possible.
“Does our criminal justice systems are at all fashioned to help change offenders and forgive those who were willing to mend?”!!!

New Skoda Superb: is it Superb?
I’ve been surfing around this Lincoln Skoda dealer’s website lately and I’m curious about the new Skoda Superb and whether it really is, well, superb.
The new Skoda, Superb?
The advertising for it said “we started with the name and worked backwards.” Which suggests a team of designers all trying to make the most superb car. Did they succeed?
It looks nice enough, it doesn’t look like a traditional Skoda - which is a good thing - pretty sharp inside and out and has all the now-usual gadgets and gizmos along with some unique touches. I really like the twindoor boot concept - the boot can open either saloon style or hatchback style.
I’m not sure if it counts as Superb though - I suppose I’ll have to head to a Skoda dealer and drive one. But it’s pitched at the executive market which has elluded Skoda for some time.
